Awareness and the sense of being there
"...When you have a sense of the awareness experience taking place in you, you begin to feel a sense of hollowness to your experience. It's as if you are not driving a car, but it is driving you, in some sense. If you are a bad driver, you would feel lots of YOU, because you take all kinds of chances and you do all kinds of dangerous things. So there is more of a sense of YOU involved. Whereas if you are a confident driver, you have a proper relationship with your motor car. You have a sense of being there. You just move a little bit, and the car goes in the direction you want. It's not your movement, as much as the movement of the car dictating to you. So awareness dictates to you, from that point of view. Awareness becomes part of your basic being, part of your behavior. You don't have to meditate as such. Meditation is conducting you, rather than you are conducting the practice of meditation. There is a sense of delightfulness and openness taking place."Chogyam Trungpa via Ocean of Dharma.
